Privacy Policy
This policy explains how CheapEnergy uses information when you use the iPhone app, visit this website or contact support.
1. Who is responsible
CheapEnergy is responsible for support communications and the operation of this website. Contact: support_cheapenergy@consultor.com.es.
Information stored in your private iCloud database or Apple Home is also processed by Apple under your Apple Account and Apple’s applicable privacy terms.
2. Our privacy approach
CheapEnergy does not require a CheapEnergy account. The app contains no advertising SDK, cross-app tracking technology or third-party analytics SDK. We do not sell personal data or share it for targeted advertising.
We do not receive your Apple Account password, full payment details, precise location, contacts, photos, health data or browsing history.
3. Information used by the app
Apple Home information
When you grant Home permission, CheapEnergy can read the homes, compatible accessories, services, characteristics and automations made available by Apple Home. It uses this information to let you select a device and to create, update, disable or remove schedules that you request. Names and technical identifiers for selected homes, accessories and automations may be saved with your CheapEnergy configuration.
Energy, appliance and automation configuration
The app stores the settings you enter or create, which can include electricity provider and zone, manually entered tariff periods, home and accessory names and identifiers, device power or consumption estimates, appliance and program names, time windows, recurrence, notification preferences and the number of free planner recommendations used.
Estimated savings history
CheapEnergy records the timing, price source, estimated consumption and estimated savings associated with calculated or scheduled runs. This includes daily and accumulated summaries. These values are estimates and do not come from your electricity meter.
iCloud sync
CheapEnergy uses Apple CloudKit to sync configuration and history through the private iCloud database associated with your Apple Account. The data is not placed in a public CheapEnergy database, and CheapEnergy does not operate a separate user account system.
Subscriptions
Apple processes purchases through the App Store. CheapEnergy uses StoreKit to receive product, transaction and entitlement status needed to unlock CheapEnergy Plus and restore purchases. We do not receive your card or bank details.
Local notifications and diagnostics
Notification preferences and scheduled notifications are handled on your device. Technical messages may be written to Apple’s unified device log for troubleshooting. CheapEnergy does not run an independent crash-reporting or analytics service; diagnostic information reaches us only if you choose to send or share it.
4. Price data providers
To download published electricity prices, the app sends requests directly to supported public or supplier APIs, currently including Red Eléctrica de España and Octopus Energy where applicable. Requests contain the dates, market zone or tariff code needed for the price query. They do not include your Apple Home names or appliance names.
Those providers may receive normal internet request data such as IP address, request time and device networking information under their own privacy policies.
5. Website and support
Website
This website does not set marketing cookies, display advertising or run custom audience analytics. It is hosted using Cloudflare, which may process IP addresses, user-agent information, requested URLs and security events to deliver and protect the site. Cloudflare acts under its own terms and applicable data-processing safeguards.
Support email
If you contact support, we process your email address, message and any information or attachments you choose to provide so we can respond and investigate the issue. Do not send passwords, payment card details or information unrelated to your request.
6. Purposes and legal bases
- Provide requested app functions: processing necessary to deliver the app and CheapEnergy Plus features you choose to use.
- System permissions: your consent and device settings control access to Apple Home, notifications and iCloud.
- Support and security: our legitimate interest in answering requests, diagnosing faults and protecting the website and service.
- Legal compliance: processing required to meet applicable accounting, consumer, regulatory or legal obligations.
7. Sharing and processors
Information is processed only as needed by the following categories:
- Apple, for Apple Home, iCloud/CloudKit, StoreKit, App Store purchases and operating-system services.
- Supported electricity price providers, for the direct price requests described above.
- Cloudflare, for website hosting, delivery and security.
- Our email service provider, for messages you send to support.
- Authorities or professional advisers where disclosure is legally required or necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
We do not authorize these providers to use CheapEnergy information for targeted advertising on our behalf.
8. Retention and deletion
- App configuration and synced history remain in your device and private iCloud database until you delete them or remove the applicable iCloud data.
- Detailed history follows the retention period you select in CheapEnergy. Accumulated daily or lifetime summaries may remain until you delete the app’s iCloud data.
- Apple retains purchase records according to its legal and App Store requirements.
- Support conversations are retained only while needed to resolve and document the request, ordinarily no longer than 24 months after closure unless a longer period is legally necessary.
- Website security and delivery logs are retained according to the operational settings and legal obligations of the hosting provider.
You can revoke Apple Home, notification or iCloud access in iOS Settings. To remove synced data, use the iCloud storage controls associated with CheapEnergy; menu names can vary by iOS version. Contact support if you need guidance.
9. Your rights
Where data-protection law applies, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to processing, receive portable data and withdraw consent. You may also complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) or the competent authority where you live.
Because CheapEnergy has no separate account and private iCloud data is associated with your Apple Account, we may be unable to identify or directly retrieve that data. We will still provide instructions and act on information we control.
10. Security and international processing
CheapEnergy relies on Apple’s platform security and private CloudKit storage, uses encrypted HTTPS connections for price requests and limits external services. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
Apple, Cloudflare, electricity providers or email providers may process data outside your country. They are responsible for using the legal safeguards applicable to their services and locations.
11. Children
CheapEnergy is a household utility app and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect children’s personal information through a CheapEnergy account because no such account exists.
12. Changes and contact
We may update this policy when the app, providers or legal requirements change. The current version and effective date will remain available on this page.
